Leaks Reveal What To Expect From GTA 6 Online

It was recently reported that GTA 6 was originally suppose to feature a dark story, however it was later rejected by the makers. We learned a lot about what went inside Rockstar during the per-production phase of GTA 6 from the same report. Well, recently the same reporter has shared some new and exciting leaks about the online mode for GTA 6 as well. He claims to have insider information about the online mode, so let’s check it out in detail!

The original post on Medium has been written in French by the reporter. We tried our best to translate it in English and share all the information. Please do correct us, if any info shared by us has been misinterpreted.

Who’s The Tipster?

As stated previously, the news comes from the same person who reported about the original scripts of GTA 6. In our investigation, it was seen that the report shared by the tipster did line up with the other available information. This time around, the tipster has stated that the report was prepared after getting information from an inside source. For obvious reasons we don’t know much about the leaker, but he goes by the name of “SElon”.

GTA 6 Online

Let’s now get straight to the point and discuss everything the report shared. So first of all, the report stated the popularity of the original GTA Online, the multiplayer part of GTA 5. It discussed the success the game has been for Rockstar Games. The code-name for the online game has also been revealed and it is called “GTA6MP” in the post.

Changes Made During Development

First of all, one of the important things we’ve learned from the report is that the multiplayer component was heavily changed mid-development. The report claims that the game was originally going to feature a “cloud-based game paradigm” which would have helped in reduction in latency compared to the original GTA Online, thus improving the user experience.

However, after seeing Stadia’s failure, which was Google’s cloud gaming service, Rockstar has seemingly changed that model. While the report didn’t go in-depth about the changes brought, it does say that Stadia’s shutdown has dealt a severe blow to this model. On the other hand, the author has also mentioned about the success of Xbox Cloud Gaming in the market.

Improvements to the Server

Now for some good news, the report says that the multiplayer is still semi-peer-to-peer architecture. However, a big improvement will come in the form of the addition of “Fluid Access” in the same architecture. The leaker claims that this new model will “eliminate the sense of partitioning between different sessions”. So the experience should now get better.

Not only that, but the leaker also shared that there is a possibility that the multiplayer activities will not have any loading time. He claims that there will be no menus, or manual invitations required. Last but not least, he also claimed that up to 96 players will be able to play per session. But the author insists that other sources have talked about a 64 player limit. Nonetheless, it will be a big jump from the current 30 player per session limit in GTA Online.

With that said, what do you think about the new improvements made to GTA 6 Online? Do you think we’ll actually get to see these new changes once the game finally comes out?
