Rockstar Is Being Accused Of Union Busting After Firings 30+ Employees

While the wait for GTA 6 continues as developers are still working on the game. However, in a shocking move, very recently, it was revealed that Rockstar Games has fired over 30+ employees. While Rockstar says that they were fired for misconduct, there’s definitely more to that story, as the company is now being accused of Union Busting. So let’s take a deep dive into what’s going on at Rockstar Games!

Rockstar Accused Of Union Busting

As per the latest Bloomberg report, Rockstar Games has fired between 30 and 40 employees across multiple offices in the UK and Canada on Thursday. Furthermore, the report revealed that all of the fired employees were either a part of a private trade union chat group on Discord. Or, they were attempting to organize something like it at the company level.

In the response to this accusation, while Rockstar Games has not said anything, a spokesman for their parent company, Take-Two Interactive said that the firings were only “for gross misconduct, and for no other reason.” Not only that, but he also says that “we fully support Rockstar’s ambitions and approach.”

The report also quotes Alex Marshall, president of the IWGB, as he said, “Rockstar has just carried out one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry,” Furthermore he also said, “This flagrant contempt for the law and for the lives of the workers who bring in their billions is an insult to their fans and the global industry.”
