As we all know, GTA 6 will only be launching on PlayStation and Xbox Consoles, as so far, Rockstar has not announced anything about a PC release. This leaves a very big gap in the market, since the PC audience is huge! However, till then, one of the alternatives is to play the game via the Cloud Gaming services, which is also available to mobile gamers.
While Cloud Gaming services are usually reliant on PC hardware, you’d be surprised to know that there is one service which could still play GTA 6 Day 1! And that is none other than the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. Recently, this service was launched in the Indian market, and at the event, we also got to learn if GTA 6 would be available on the service or not. But before we look at the statement, let’s first see how the service actually works!
How does Xbox Cloud Gaming work?
The regular cloud gaming services in the market, like Nvidia’s GeForce Now are using Gaming PCs, which are great for performance. But at the same time, for a game like GTA 6, which is simply not available on the platform, it becomes an issue. So Xbox Cloud Gaming services do take a lead here, as they also offer something called, “Stream Your Own Games”.

With this feature, the user can buy a particular game on the Xbox Store, and from there the game will be available to stream on different devices. So in theory if a person has bought GTA 6 on the Microsoft Store, then he could stream the game. This works as the Xbox Cloud Gaming services are using Xbox Console hardware for streaming, instead of PCs.
Xbox India Head on GTA 6 via Cloud Gaming
But there is a catch here too, as not all games are available to stream. In order for the game to be playable via the service, it requires the game to have the Xbox Cloud Gaming certification. Well, GTA 5 for example, has the Xbox Cloud Gaming badge, on the Xbox Store. This means that we can indeed stream the game via their Cloud service. However, will this be the same story for GTA 6, when it comes out? That’s the big question.

In one of the recent Q&A sessions, held after the launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming in India, our Editor-in-Chief Ayush Goel, asked the Xbox India Lead Arjun Varma if GTA 6 would be accessible on mobile devices via Xbox’s Cloud service or not? And well we did get an answer! Arjun said, “It depends on, how that game, how the partnership, of that game happens, which is of course, like a different team, within Xbox.” He suggested that we’ll most likely have to wait until the game is released!
He even expressed his reaction to the delay for GTA 6, where he said, “They keep extending it, right? It was quite heartbreaking to see that.” If Rockstar and Xbox do end up working on a partnership, it would become favorable to Xbox. As then, they’d be the only service in the market, offering a game as big as GTA 6 to everyone via the cloud.
