The GTA franchise has featured some of the most iconic cities in video game history. With the release of GTA 6 next year, fans have been very excited to get back to Vice City. It has been quite a while since Vice City was last featured in a mainline GTA game. Well, another city which hasn’t been featured in the franchise for a long time is Liberty City, and fans would be excited to hear this news! A new set of theories suggests that there’s a chance Liberty City could be featured in GTA 6. Let’s check out this theory in detail.
Liberty City Featured in GTA 6 Trailer
First spotted by fans over at the r/GTA6 subreddit, the trailer had a reference to Liberty City. During a sequence, we see Jason trying to steal a car from a truck. If you notice closely, you’d see that the truck’s license plate says Liberty City. What’s interesting is that the car inside has a license plate that says Leonida. So it is possible that the car is being sent off to Liberty City.

Lucia is linked to Liberty City
Fans were quick enough to spot another reference to Liberty City. Along with the Trailer, Rockstar has also released character bios, screenshots and more details about the game on their official website. There, it was seen that Lucia’s family is from Liberty City. Her character bio mentions, “More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City”. It’s too early to say anything as of now, but chances are we might get to see a mission, revisiting Liberty City to learn more about Lucia’s past.

Rockstar Games’ Previous Titles
Most fans argued that since there have been no other major hints towards Liberty City in the trailer, Rockstar isn’t going to add it in the final game. But well, you’d be surprised to know that Rockstar has a history of shadow dropping content in their games. Our first example includes Red Dead Redemption 2.

Before the release, Rockstar had given zero hints about the New Austin area in the game. But when the game was finally released, fans were surprised that the New Austin area was present in the game. This area was not at all present in any of the trailers or marketing material, so it came as a surprise for most.
Our next example includes GTA: San Andreas. Most fans would likely be unaware of this, but San Andreas had a mission that took us back to Liberty City. While it is only a small mission, and doesn’t allow much free-roam, it is interesting that the game featured the city. As none of the trailers for the game showcase anything about Liberty City at all.

In other news, it was recently reported that Michael’s boat has been found in GTA 6. This came right after the latest Trailer 2 for the game was released. A few fans were quick enough to spot a few scenes, with a boat. The boat looked very similar to Michael’s stolen boat, which was featured in GTA 5.
