Absurd Ventures, Dan Houser’s own company, isn’t like a traditional video gaming company. Well, truth be told, so far it’s hard to say if it’s even a video game company at all or not, given that we don’t really know much about them. But well, it looks like we finally have some updates, as Dan Houser, founder and CEO of Absurd Ventures, has spoken about the current projects their team is working on! Let’s take a look at what he said.
Absurd Ventures Current Projects
During his recent interview on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Dan Houser revealed that Absurd Ventures is currently working on their project called “Absurdaverse”. He said that this “Absurdaverse” would blend comedy, cynicism, heart, drama, also a few amusing life lessons. Furthermore, he also talked about one of the games set in this universe.
He revealed that an Open-world comedy game set in “Absurdaverse” is in early development at their San Rafael Studio. While we didn’t get to hear more about the game itself, he revealed that the game will be like a “Living Sitcom”. As of now, the game is still in development, so no release date has been revealed. But it is expected that the game should be around 3-4 years away from release.
Dan Houser on Single Player vs Multi Player
Given his track record, Dan Houser is known for making single-player games. However, many also wish he made multiplayer games too! And well, it looks like Houser isn’t necessarily against the idea. In the interview, while discussing this topic, he said, “We still love single-player games… we might add multiplayer components to one of them… but we’re really leaning into single-player as our strength.”
It’ll be very interesting to see if Houser decides to add multiplayer components to his current projects or not! Many who have been fans of GTA Online and Red Dead Online will for sure love Houser going back into the multiplayer genre.
