Dan Houser, the former head writer, producer, and cofounder of Rockstar Games, has been working on his new game for the past 18 months. While discussing his debut novel, A Better Paradise Volume One: An Aftermath, Dan Houser shared some interesting details about the upcoming game, describing it as “beautiful” and “pretty”.
There is a natural curiosity among the GTA community about what Absurd Ventures, the new company of Dan Houser, is working on. This is especially true because the people working there have been the masterminds behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. While sitting with Chris Evans from the Breakfast Show with The National Lottery, Dan Houser shared a lot about his life as a video game writer and then transitioning from Rockstar Games. This interview is one of several recent appearances Dan Houser has made to discuss his new projects. Nonetheless, it’s always inspirational to listen to a genius who is humble about his achievements. The title of this article refers to a moment when he answered a question about the game based on the A Better Paradise book.

Chris asked him about how far the game is into development. To which Dan replied, “a quarter to a third in making it”. He further added, “Uh, we’ve well we did a lot of early work with a very, very, very small team, and then we’ve had a slightly bigger team on it that we’ve assembled in California in our office there um for the last 18 months or so and it takes about another three years four years not quite sure.”
Later, when asked about whether we can get movies based on the game, too, he replied by saying, “The game is very beautiful looking, and the world is very pretty. So, I think it could be a movie or TV show potentially, but we’re still exploring.”

Dan Houser also released a novel based on the universe, called “A BETTER PARADISE Volume One: An Aftermath“. It is Dan Houser’s first novel that goes deeper into the origins and secrets of the video game project first revealed in the audio series. The theme centers around the metaverse hype from 2022 and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). Nonetheless, Dan himself revealed he wanted to do something related to Science Fiction. Many fans have yet to read the novel, but it expands on the world first introduced in the audio series.

Talking about the game, we don’t have a title yet. But it will be based in the same universe. The game is currently under development at the Santa Monica studio and will be an open-world third-person action-adventure game. Dan previously described the game as ‘beautiful’ and ‘pretty’.

It’s also worth noting that this is not the only game he is working on. As revealed from Absurd Ventures Games’ page, they are working on another game based on Absurdaverse, a comedy-satirical universe. It will be made into an animated series and a story-driven open-world action-comedy adventure game. Not much is known about it, except for an artwork of 20 diverse characters, to say the least. Absurd Ventures Press described it as, “Prepare to meet some new kinds of heroes (and watch them suffer).”
