We’ve shared a bunch of news surrounding GTA 6 in the past few weeks. If you remember, we last reported that a Former Rockstar developer believes GTA 6 doesn’t need a Trailer 2 before it comes out. Well, aside from talking about the trailer for the game. The former Rockstar developer also talked about any delay that GTA 6 could face. Let’s see in detail what he said!
Former Rockstar Dev Talks About GTA 4
Obbe Vermeij is a former Rockstar developer who has worked on many GTA games. Such as GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA 4. Just a few days back, one of the games he worked on, GTA 4, turned 17 years old! To celebrate its anniversary, the developer looked back at some of the moments during the development and shared them on his X account.
Right at the start, he mentioned the removal of certain features from GTA 4, last seen in San Andreas. Features such as character stats, stealth, underwater swimming, jet packs, car modding and more were not present in the game. Clarifying on this, Obbe said, “To focus on making the game truly next-gen, we dropped many game features from San Andreas.”
If you’ve followed the development of games around the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, you’d know most developers did not like the PS3. The major reason behind that was the Cell Processor in the PS3, making it hard to develop games on it. Well, GTA 4 for no different as revealed by Obbe. He said, “The ps3 was difficult to work with so the 360 became the lead platform.”
“Fingers crossed for Take2’s August earnings report”
But most importantly, towards the end of his tweet, the former Rockstar developer also talked about any delay with GTA 6. He first mentioned about the delay GTA 4 had to go through during the development stage. As per him, the original release date was October 16th 2007. But the decision to delay the game was made in July 2007.
GTA 4 was moved from October 2007 to April 2008, which is about 6 months. He says that if GTA 6 does get delayed, “I’m guessing decision-day for VI will be similar”. While he clarified that he has no insider information, as he left Rockstar Games a long time ago. As per him, Take Two’s August earnings report should most likely clear any confusion.
