Rockstar Games Acquires Video Games Deluxe; The Studio That Fixed Definitive Trilogy

Rockstar Games has acquired the studio Video Games Deluxe. This is the same studio that worked on the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition after its poor reception. The studio has undergone many new changes. So, let’s check out all that has happened! 

Rockstar Games Acquires Video Games Deluxe

While Video Games Deluxe has worked on a few other games with Rockstar. Most recently, they were working on upgrades for the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition. After the poor reception of the Trilogy initially, Video Games Deluxe helped in making the iOS and Android version of the game. Along with that, they also fixed the consoles and PC version.

Now that the studio has been acquired by Take-Two Interactive, it has also become a direct subsidiary to Rockstar. The studio has now been renamed from Video Games Deluxe to Rockstar Australia, with the founder McNamara remaining on staff. It would be interesting to see what other games or re-releases the studio works on in the future.

In case you didn’t know, Video Games Deluxe was originally an Australian video game developer based in Pyrmont, Sydney. The studio was founded in 2013 by Brendan McNamara, the founder and former creative director of Team Bondi. Yes, the same team that worked on Rockstar’s detective game, L.A. Noire. Along with the original game, they also worked on its re-release and the VR game, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files too.

In a press release, Rockstar’s Head of Publishing, Jennifer Kolbe said, “After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia,” While Video Games Deluxe founder Brendan McNamara in the same press release said, “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”
