Ananta

Ananta is an upcoming free-to-play game. It is being developed by the studio, Naked Rain, along with NetEase Montreal. Ever since the announcement trailer for the game was released, people all over the internet have been calling the game “Anime GTA 6” meaning that this game is similar to GTA 6, but with Anime graphics! The trailer has also shown that characters can pick up cats, play mini-games, and interact with all objects in the city, especially in combat. As of now, we don’t have any idea about the release date for the game.
MindsEye
Release Date: Summer 2025
MindsEye is a game that is being developed by a former Rockstar Developer, Leslie Benzies. True Rockstar fans would be able to recall who he is, as he has been involved with the production of every major GTA game. “Build a Rocket Boy”, the studio that is currently working on the game, released a story reveal trailer, and along with that, they also gave us a new look at the gameplay, which showcases the character movement, along with the gun fights and more. As of now, the exact release date hasn’t been revealed yet, however, the developers have said the game will be out by Summer 2025.
Gauley

Gauley is an upcoming Indie game that is being made by a solo Nepali developer. The game is based in Nepal and while the project is still in development, if you want, you can purchase the early access of the game through Itch.io. A video showcasing the gameplay of the game has also been released by the developer. It shows the main character’s fighting moves, and the movement around in a car, and a few other vehicles. As of now, the release date has not been revealed, however, the early access version is regularly updated.
Mafia: The Old Country

Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take Two Interactive, have also got another upcoming open-world game. Mafia: The Old Country is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Hangar 13. It is a prequel to the first game and the fourth main entry in the Mafia series. So far, 2K games, the publisher, has revealed that the game would be powered by Unreal Engine 5. The screenshots revealed by the developer look promising as well. While we don’t know the exact release date, the game is scheduled to release in Summer 2025, which is before the release of GTA 6.
Project Century

Project Century is an upcoming game from the developers of the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. A trailer showcasing some in-game footage was revealed at The Game Awards. Based on the trailer, it looks like the game is going to have the beat’em up combat style, that was seen in the older Yakuza games. The game is going to take place in Japan, and it is set in 1915. As of now, the developers have not given any details about the release date of the game.
Mumbai Gullies

Aside from AAA games, an Indian developer, GameEon is also working on a new game called Mumbai Gullies. In the game, you would play as an Indian protagonist and the game is set in the landscape of Mumbai. The developer has said that it is an open world action adventure game, where the players will be carrying out missions to reach the top, from ruling the local gullies of Mumbai to ruling the city itself. As of now, we don’t have any idea about the release date, however, it could be released this year!
Project Madras

Project Madras is an open world Indie game. As the name suggests, it takes place in Madras. The developer has been sharing new videos of the game, and they recently showcased a glimpse of the gameplay on their YouTube channel. The gameplay trailer shows the player driving around a beach in an auto. Not only that, but it also shows the combat scenes, mainly the gunplay of the game. The game is in the early stages of development, so no release window has been announced yet.
Gangstar New York

The Gangstar series is very popular among the mobile gamers, because of how similar it is to the GTA games. Now, the developer Gameloft is jumping into the PC platform, with their new game Gangstar New York. A trailer was also released showcasing the early gameplay, elements like driving, shooting, explosions and more. The early access for this game is already available, and players can download and play the early alpha build. As of now, the developers have not announced any release date for the game.
The Precinct

The Precinct is a game that is being developed by Fallen Tree Games. The game looks to be similar to older 2D GTA games. However, instead of becoming the bad guy, you play as a police officer in this game. The developers have also released a new trailer, that showcases the gameplay! You can move around in a police car, and the game also has some shooting elements, which would be helpful while chasing around the criminals. As of now, we don’t know the exact release date of the game, however, the developers are planning for a 2025 release date for this game.
Contraband

Contraband is a co-op game being made by Avalanche Studios, the makers of the Just Cause series. So far, we only know that the game will be set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan. It will be released on the Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC. It was announced back in 2021, with a trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. However, there has been no news about the game ever since that.

171 is an open world action adventure game, that is set in a Brazilian-inspired world. The player controls a young criminal living in a low-income neighborhood in Brazil. You can complete several gigs, purchase and use firearms, drive and steal vehicles, commit murder and theft, very similar to GTA games. As of now, the game is available in Early Access, and recently the developers announced that they’ve switched over to Unreal Engine 5 and are planning a 2025 release.
Cyberpunk Project Orion

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games released in the past few years. It looks like the developer CD Projekt RED is now working on the sequel for the game, which has been named ‘Project Orion’ as of now. Orion serves as a codename for the project as it is being developed. The development of the game has started, according to one of the job listings posted, the game is trying to create the most realistic crowd system in any game to date. No further information has been released, but it would be interesting to see what the developers have planned for the sequel.
Sleeping Dogs Sequel

Sleeping Dogs is a 2012 game that is loved by fans to this day. The game has become a cult classic, and fans have been eagerly waiting to hear about an announcement for a sequel. Well, Simu Liu, the popular actor, announced this year that he was working on a movie that would be based on this game. Not only that, but in one of his tweets he also said, “First a movie, then a sequel game for everyone… that’s always been the dream.” While we don’t have any more information about it, there are chances we get the much-awaited sequel for the game.
