You’re probably clueless after reading the headline, and could be wondering how something like this even happens. Well, I was in the same boat as soon as I first heard about this new bug. But as it turns out, the latest update of Windows 11, has removed a particular plane from GTA San Andreas! A few users started reporting this after updating their systems. Without wasting much time, let’s get right into it and investigate what’s causing the issue!
Plane removed from GTA San Andreas
This bug was first spotted by the creator of the Silent Patch, a famous patch that fixes issues with classic GTA Games on PC. In his latest blog post, the modder explained that users reported a bug had caused the removal of the Skimmer Plane from GTA San Andreas. He further said that it was only happening with the latest update of Windows 11, 24h2. In the previous Windows 11 updates like 23h2, the plane is still visible and fully functional.
After going through the entire code and debugging for a fix, the modder gave his final thoughts. As per him, in GTA: Vice City, the Skimmer was defined as a boat, so it did not need certain defined values. However, in San Andreas, Skimmer’s vehicle type was changed from a boat to a plane. While the change happened, it was still missing some values, which caused this problem. As to why this happened, only in Windows 11 24h2 and not with any other update, Silent has explained it in detail in his blog post. How to fix this issue?
Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about either Rockstar Games or Microsoft pushing an update to fix this issue. The creator of the Silent Patch has already found a way to fix this bug. He has stated that the fix for this bug would be available in the latest build of the Silent Patch. Till then, a temporary fix he recommends using involves changing a few lines of code.
