One of the biggest complaints with the release of GTA 5 Enhanced on PC by gamers, has so far been the removal of the Text Chat feature in the game. The feature was widely used by players to communicate between each other in the online component of the game. Players are so angry with the removal of the feature, that GTA 5 Enhanced on Steam has managed to become the worst rated Rockstar Game to date. Most negative reviews were filled with the complaint regarding this feature. However, it now looks like that the text chat could soon be added over to the game.
Text Chat Could Make A Comeback
The GTA Forums is very quick enough to spot new features and leaks regarding Rockstar’s games. Well, they’ve maintained their track record and as it turns out, it was found that the text chat feature is hidden in the game files. A user that goes by the username ‘_CP_‘ made a post on the forums with a picture of the files of the game.
The files reveal that the Gen 9 version of GTA 5, i.e. the Enhanced edition indeed does have text chat features. However, they’ve been disabled by Rockstar. Rockstar is likely working on revamping the Text chat feature, and thus they’ve disabled the feature for now. The files say, “Text chat option not yet added to Gen 9. Coming soon”

As of now, we have no idea about when the feature could be added. Even the files suggest that the feature is coming soon, however, no date has been given out by Rockstar so far. We do hope that the feature is added soon, though, as a lot of gamers prefer using the text chat, more than the voice chat while playing GTA Online.
In other news, it was reported that FiveM Team will bring an official modding utility for GTA 5 Enhanced. With the help of this modding utility, modders will be able to port over the custom assets used in GTA 5 Legacy to GTA 5 Enhanced. It is going to be very useful when FiveM for GTA 5 Enhanced comes out, as FiveM support for GTA 5 Enhanced has been announced.
