Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes have been highly anticipated by gamers, as soon as they were announced. However we haven’t really got any information about them by either Remedy Games or Rockstar. But recently there have been a few developments made, as Remedy Games did give out some new information, so let’s see the progress with the remakes!
Remedy on Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes
Every quarter, Remedy Games share their financial reports for the previous three months to investors and also tells them about their current games that are in development. So in the recent investors’ press release, Remedy talked about all the current projects they are working on. Along with their other projects, they talked about the remake status of Max Payne 1 and 2 and said, “Max Payne 1&2 Remake is making steady progress in full production. The development progress is heading towards key development objectives together with the game’s publisher Rockstar Games.”
Back in 2024, Remedy revealed that the remake is going to be a major new game and is enabled by a similar development budget as Alan Wake 2. The developers have not revealed any release date for the game, however given that the game is already in full production, speculations are being made that the game could be released by 2026.
Back when it was announced that the games are going to be remade by Remedy Games, in a press release, Sam Houser Founder of Rockstar Games said, “We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games,” Furthermore he also said, “We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can’t wait to play these new versions.”

Remedy originally entered an agreement with Rockstar for the project back in 2022. The game is being made by Remedy and it utilizes their advanced Northlight Engine technology. It was announced that the games will be made for the modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with that the game is also going to be released for PC.
