After the release of GTA 5 Enhanced on PC, the biggest complaint by players has been the removal of text chats from the Online component of the game. However, a recent report suggests that a new feature from Discord which adds voice and text chats into games, could most likely be added to GTA Online. Let’s check out the report in detail!
Discord Social SDK: A Game Changer?
Discord recently announced the launch of Social SDK, a toolkit that enables developers to add in-game communication for all players in their games. In short, what it means is that instead of communicating via in-game chats, developers can add this feature to their game to allow chatting through Discord.
The new toolkit does have some nice features, and it has already been added to a few games like Marvel Strike Force. It adds friends lists, cross-platform messaging, voice chats and more such features for all players. Not only that but this feature does not need users to have a Discord account, it works with or without having a Discord account.
We last reported that Text Chat could soon be added to GTA 5 Enhanced on PC. A few in-game files revealed that the Enhanced edition does have text chat features. However, they’ve been disabled by Rockstar. We also said that Rockstar is likely working on revamping the Text chat feature, well now it looks like this is what they were working on.

Tez2 shared something interesting. According to him, Rockstar will likely integrate this feature, so they’ve removed text chats from the game. It would also be favourable for Rockstar, as it would allow the integration to consoles too if the feature is added. Given that Rockstar and Discord have been working together closely, it does make sense for the feature to be added soon.
Other than this, Tez2 also shared what Discord’s Rich Presence feature would look like, once it is added to GTA 5 Enhanced. This feature will be available later and can be enabled via the Rockstar Games Launcher. Rockstar Games have added this Discord feature to a lot of their games, recently.
In case you haven’t been following the news related to GTA 5, players have been so angry with the removal of the text chat feature that GTA 5 Enhanced On Steam became the worst-rated Rockstar game. The entire review page on Steam was filled with players demanding this feature back into the game!
In other news, Rockstar Games has launched a new limited-time offer and is offering free money to returning GTA Online players. They’re offering a total of $3,000,000 in-game cash, which has been divided into a few parts. Players will need to do a few things, to claim the entire sum.
