Yeah, you read that title right. GTA Vice City, Rockstar’s hit title from 2002, which was officially released for the PS2, is now being ported to the Sega Dreamcast. What might have sounded crazy over 20 years back, is now becoming a reality. Let’s check out everything we know so far about the port!
GTA Vice City on Sega Dreamcast
The developer SKMP has announced that he’s working on an unofficial port for GTA Vice City on the Sega Dreamcast. He has even released a new video that showcases the game running on the Dreamcast. The project is supposedly called, “dca3-miami” and while it’s not in a great state right now, with more time, the performance should improve. As of now, the game seems to be running, and audio is working too. It’ll be interesting to see what further developments happen in the future!
In case you weren’t aware of the developers porting over the game to Dreamcast, they’ve also ported over GTA 3 to the Dreamcast before this. You can play the port of GTA 3, if you legally own the game, and also have the Sega Dreamcast! An official guide was also made, narrating all the steps that would be required to install the game and get it running!

Even an official Ex-Rockstar developer took notice of this project and he was impressed by their work! He said, “There is an impressive effort going on to make gta3 run on the Sega Dreamcast. The first months of development of gta3 (back in 99/00) were done on the Dreamcast. For commercial reasons we switched to ps2. At the time we did think it was technically possible to pull it off on the DC and these guys are actually doing it. Nice one.”
In other news, Rockstar Games recently released a new update for their Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. The update has brought out many new changes, including adding a certain Discord feature! You can read the full story from here, Rockstar Games to add Discord Features to more of their games
