After being radio silent for over 500 days, Rockstar Games has finally announced some news related to GTA 6. But unfortunately, it’s not the most positive news. While we finally have a release date, unfortunately, they’ve also announced that GTA 6 has been delayed to 2026. Let’s check out the announcement post made by Rockstar!
GTA 6 Delayed To 2026
The announcement comes from Rockstar Games’ Newswire website. Alongside the delay, Rockstar Games has also announced the official release date. They’ve announced that the game will be released on May 26, 2026. Before the delay, Rockstar had announced that the game would be released in Fall 2025, with no exact release date.
The announcement post reads, “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.”
Furthermore, Rockstar also gave the reason for this delay. As per them, “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”

While Rockstar hasn’t shared any new information about the game, they have made another announcement. The end of the post reads, “We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.” Now it’s hard to say whether we would finally get a Trailer 2, or some new screenshots. Only time will tell.
In other news, it was recently reported that Remedy has shared updates on Max Payne Remakes. In their investor call, Remedy announced that the Remake is now in full production. Along with this, Remedy said that they can’t comment on any Trailer announcement since Rockstar Games is handling all the marketing and communications for the remakes.
