Analyst Suggests GTA 6 Could Cost $100 And Somehow Still Be Good For Gamers

With the introduction of the new console generation, we saw a new industry standard of video games costing $70. While most people were against the idea at first, everyone slowly caved in. However, it now looks like Rockstar’s upcoming game will do something entirely new, a new analyst report suggests that GTA 6 could cost $100 for the base game! The report dives deep into why this could happen, and how it could be rewarding for gamers too. Let’s check it out!

GTA 6 could be priced at $100

First spotted by VGC, the new report by popular Industry analyst Michael Pachter says, “We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point, and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online,”

The report further took Call of Duty as an example and said, “Activision did so with both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile content prior to the release of its annual Call of Duty premium installment, In Activision’s case, the integration led to a 40% increase in sales of Call of Duty premium; in Take-Two’s case, we think a successful integration of GTA Online and GTA VI can lead to a $100 price point for the premium game.”

While one side of the crowd says that the $100 pricing could be likely true, in defense, some other analysts have made some valid points too. According to Joost van Dreunen, NYU Stern professor, a price increase would be a mistake. He said, “Their success with GTA 5 came partly from their pricing strategy — launching at a standard price point late in the console cycle, then selling another copy to those same players when they upgraded to new consoles,” he said. “They’ll likely stick to this proven approach, though they’ll definitely offer premium editions with extras at higher price points.”
